postpartum support

The postpartum period can be the most beautiful time for a new family. It can also feel liminal, complex, and bring up collective grief and pain. I offer a compassionate, heart-centered approach to this delicate period of time. I am here to provide physical, emotional, and spiritual support. I believe in the power of nature and community.

“women are the heart, the foundation of the people. supporting mothers supports healthy and empowered families, which supports thriving communities, which supports all of humanity.”

- Rachelle Garcia Seliga

My approach to postpartum care is rooted in your body's physiological ability to heal. I offer you a holistic experience rooted in traditional postpartum practices, focusing on two important elements: warmth and nourishment.

physical recovery

After giving birth, your body loses heat and opens up in ways that it never has before. To revitalize the body and heal, we must embrace the slowness and nourishment that is necessary. I guide and support you to heal through preparing nutrient dense, warming foods, and gentle touch. Through these elements, we work together to rebuild warmth and vitality to support a vibrant beginning to motherhood through the body. I am here to support anything related to tending to the home and older children as well.

emotional support

The postpartum period opens the mother to a wide range of emotions. From love, joy and excitement to feelings of overwhelm, anxiousness, and exhaustion, I will support you in navigating all that is brought to the surface with non judgment, tender space, and deep listening. There is space for all of you to be witnessed.

Through this emotional care, warmth is brought back into your mind and heart. This releases stagnation and prevents emotions from becoming stiff in the body which leads to emotional/physical coldness down the line. Together, we create more capacity for your beautiful nature and wholeness to be expressed.

spiritual connection

Welcoming a new life into the world is a sacred and profound experience. I intend to meet you and your family where you are in all belief systems, spiritual practices, and intentions you hold.
Through meditation, prayer, or connecting with nature, I believe that nurturing spiritual well-being brings a deeper sense of purpose and fulfillment to the postpartum journey.
In pregnancy, birth, and postpartum, you are a walking ceremony.
I will create altars with you, pray with you, sit in silence with you, and uphold your family’s personal connection to the great mystery.

closing of the bones

Like water, this ceremony nurtures, cleanses, and renews. We set an alter with intentions and create space for all stories and emotions to be shared in a safe space. The use of seven rebozos (traditional cotton shawls) help to "close" the body after the expansive experiences of childbirth, miscarriage, abortion, etc. The rebozos are known as “The Hands of the Earth”, bringing in the support of the home that holds us all. We imagine the grandmothers rocking us.
